MANY ARE CALLED, AND FEW ARE CHOSEN

Most people tend to believe that a choir is all about getting a group of choristers together and starts singing praises to the good Lord, and the truth of the matter is there is more to it. Some things are beyond our control, they are all about callings and spiritual healings, and like they always say: MANY ARE CALLED, AND VERY FEW ARE CHOSEN.

It all started as a vision after the founder of Galaletsang Morena,  Boitumelo G. Moncho, got involved in an accident. Whilst he was hospitalised on the 31st of January 2007, he got into a vision at around 15H00 pm. "An old woman appeared before me and showed me a woman with two kids standing on my right hand side and there was also a group", B.G Moncho said. "The old woman told me to lead the group and pray for the woman", he continued...
"I then asked her how will I do that when the doctors said I won't be able to walk again. And instead of answering me, she quoted a Sotho hymn in a firm voice: LONA BA RATANG HO PHELA MOHLAPENG WA JESU, HOPOLANG TSIETSI EA TSELA", he added.
Shortly after that on April whilst recovering, he and a trusted friend wrote letters that were later sent to different churches to form the group, but the journey was not easy at all. And finally on the 8th of September 2007 Galaletsang Morena Gospel Choir was formed. Years went by with Galaletsang Morena GC facing a lot of hardships but by the grace of God, they got through it all and recorded their first and only CD titled 'JESU YO BONOLO'. And according to the founder, they did not get the support they needed and deserved from the community.

Since Galaletsang Morena is a registered Non-profit organisation and is mostly focused on religious matters, it raises funds by performing and entertaining the audience through praise and worship. And its main aim is to pray for the sick, take care of the elderly, help the less privileged kids who are eager for education by taking them/ assisting them with returning back to school and to also bring light to saddened homes by providing spiritual healing through prayers. And all these beautiful deeds are done by Galaletsang Morena GC which consists of both the youth and adults.

The founder realized that if in this day and time we do not tap into the creative side of a young person's brain in every possible way, then we will not have the innovation, the economic and cultural growth experience that this country must have. Hence the choir consists of not only choristers but also composers who pen down their musical notations on a piece of paper, to the dancers who interpret the music of clap and tap through movement and dance.
Galaletsang Morena is keeping most youngsters off the streets and through creative arts these youngsters get to recognize their own creative potential, their ability to focus, their open minded approach toward problem solving and their achievement of new levels of human growth and development.

So by supporting Galaletsang Morena GC, you will be supporting future artists and composers.

THE MANIAC OF MOTSWAKO

Entering a male dominated industry is not always easy, the process isn't always easy but in the end it is always worth it. Palesa Zanele Bouman is a hip hop artist/motswako rapper who goes by the name of TswakManiak. She was born and bred in Vryburg in the North West but later on moved to Kimberley in the Northern Cape where she is currently pushing her music career at.

To those who do not know TswakManiak, she says her love for hip hop started in 2012 when she was still in primary. She was that kind of a girl who would beat up the tables with a ruler and started doing freestyles. And although we would love to call her the queen, she describes herself as an ordinary being. A person who wears a smile everywhere she goes.

Being in the male dominated industry is not for the faint hearted. That is why TswakManiak believes that females are not given enough attention and support in the hip hop stream. She believes that often most producers takes advantage of struggling females in the music industry.

Despite her lack of support, this young lady has dreams and so it would be a great honour to work with Tuks Senganga, Molemi, Fifi Cooper, Khuli Chana and A-reece. "I had more hope on HHP, more because he used to help upcoming, local artists", says TswakManiak. She says they met and spoke on Facebook in 2017 but she was not sure if the account was real or not, until they exchanged numbers so she could send him her songs. And then in 2018 before he passed away, he asked her to attend an open mic session in Maftown where local artists usually gather, but she couldn't due to personal reasons. And sadly after a month he passed away. May his soul continue to rest in perfect peace.

"Word of advice to other upcoming female rappers out there...is that any challenges they face, they should always know how to go about it and they must not let male producers take advantage of them. They should help them willingly", says TswakManiak.

Feel free to follow her on Facebook: TswakManiak

She's a performing artist so you can inbox her for bookings.

Let us support women in music.

RISING STARS

THEY ARE NOT THERE YET, BUT THEY ARE CLOSER THAN THEY WERE YESTERDAY

The creative arts are our universal language - the language of our imagination, of musicians and dancers, painters and sculptors, storytellers and poets. The creative arts are one of the most revealing of human activities. They are the ways we communicate the very essence of our aesthetic experiences - our powerful, essential, and lasting ways of bringing beauty into our world.

Creative arts are also our way of surviving, of thriving, of being the best version of oneself. It is our way of making a living, using our God given talents to bring change into our world.
So the above group of creatives, chose to narrate the arts in order to make a living. They perform their songs and poems to entertain us, and also feed our our souls. They are not there yet, but they are closer than they were yesterday. So let us continue to support them, celebrate them and show them love and appreciation.
